Don Sample Wins Mr Dull Guy Award

Don Sample Wins Mr Dull Guy Award: "Don Sample Wins Mr. Dull Guy Award!

Ruch, OR UPI
Don Sample, longtime broadcaster and bass virtuoso from the famous Applesauce Gang, has again won the 'Mr. Dull Guy' Award. This is the 7th consecutive year that Mr. Sample has won the award.
When told of his award, Sample grunted and admitted that he probably deserved it. Known for his lack of a sense of humor, Sample is responsible for giving the residents of the Rogue Valley a good days sleep. He has been known to lull listeners into such a deep sleep that many people have actually missed a day at work or at school.
'I am quite proud of my record in this regard', droned Mr. Sample. I feel I have contributed to the well-being of the citizens of this area by providing them with restful and sleep-inducing material. Other broadcasters do a disservice to folks by constantly giving them something interesting to think about, while I, on the other hand, lull them into a state of sleepiness almost akin to a trance.'
Mr. Sample credits his outstanding dullness to his long-time involvement with the infamous Applesauce Gang, with whom he traveled for many years.

'Those guys in the Applesauce Gang were so ridiculously cheerful, that I felt I had to do something to counteract it. So gradually I adopted a posture of studied dullness, punctuated with a severe lack of humor, just to give balance to the group.'
As winner of the Mr. Dull Guy Award, Sample was awarded a copy of the collectors item 'The Applesauce Gang Rides Again!'

Medford, Oregon April 1, 2005 --
The little town of Medford is abuzz today with the news that Pat Pelzel grows afro! After years of cultivating the bald image, Pat apparently did a 180 turn and pulled out all the stops in his effort to achieve notoriety on the web.
Pat, the mild-mannered digital guy at Pukey Print in Medford, also sometimes known at 'Hey Pat', has also been described as 'the Clark Kent of Medford' because of his penchant for changing clothes rapidly in the phone booth adjacent to his workplace.
'Hey -- I just like to wear different clothes during different parts of the day,' Pelzel explained while questioned by Medford police. 'You know -- in the morning I like to dress casually -- usually in my sweats. But after lunch, I like to put on the dog by switching to my tux, so I can impress clients who come in to Pukey Print in the afternoon when they are sleepy. And after work, I often don my sleeveless evening gown before I hit the town. And now I have decided I want hair after all these years, so I put my mind to it and presto! -- there it was this morning -- a beautiful black afro!'
Arnold Fishmaster, proprietor of Pukey Print and a close confidant of Pelzel, immediately started the presses rolling with the news that 'Pat Pelzel grows afro!' as soon as he heard the news about the new hairdo.
'Astounding!' remarked Arnold, who himself had sported an afro in years gone by. 'I can't believe that he grew it that fast! I just saw him last evening and he was bald, and yet this morning he had a full head of curley black hair. Obviously, he has a real winner on his hands, and I have no doubt that he will parley this remarkable talent into a world wide web business!'
'Yes', added Pelzel. 'I "

Weight Loss Diets:
Let Me Count the Weighs
Lets face it. We live in a society that is obsessed with being thin and yet most of us are in serious need of weight loss. Its not that were not trying. Weve tried the weight loss pills and the weight loss fasts. Weve tried the weight loss patch and the latest fad diet. Weve gone to the book store to find a weight loss book and walked away empty handed, not because of the lack of books but because there were so many titles that our heads were swimming before we got half way through the section and the worse part is that so many of them say that everyone else is wrong!
Weight loss is possible. It really is. I recently lost sixty pounds so I know its possible. So what are the answers to weight loss? Is it gastric bypass surgery often called weight loss surgery? Are supplements the key to weight loss? What about weight loss drugs?
Experts in the medical community tell us that, your weight is determined by the difference between the amount of energy you take in and the amount you use. That is to say that, if you burn more calories than you eat weight loss. So the experts tell us that we need to get more active if we want to achieve weight loss. Turn the television off and go for a walk with your spouse. Get active. Live life on your feet instead of your backside.
Second, they say that we need to view weight loss as a lifestyle change and after activity the next issue in lifestyle is what you eat. You need to find a dietary plan that is healthy and something that you can stick with. Can you eat grapefruit everyday for the rest of your life as so many of the grapefruit diets seem to advocate? Can you drink carrot juice day in a day out? Thats one of the complaints that I have run across most often about many weight loss diets. Can you eat nothin"

Internet Marketing Without a Big-Picture Strategy Dances in Circles

Stop Tracking the Illusive 'Magic Bullet'
It seems like everyone is beating the drum for one Internet marketing method or another. And in the process they create plenty of hype and conflicting messages.
Website owners are left to wonder whom to believe when it comes to impressing the search engines. Which approach can deliver the 'magic bullet' they've been promised? Is it time to jump to the next 'sure thing,' that will entice both search spiders and web surfers?
The primary methods promoted to attract search engines and Web traffic aren't new:
Links and reciprocal links
Pay-per-click (PPC)
Search engine optimization (SEO) in all its variations
Blogs and forums
Writing and posting articles or press releases
Paid placement with ads and banners
But each of them shares a common limitation. At its best, each is only part of the answer. An answer that won't hold still long enough to get nailed down - before the next 'must have' appears.
The Internet is Maturing, and so are Search Engines
In recent years, the capabilities and sophistication of the search engines have exploded. Public use and expectations have grown to match it. The public's reliance on the Internet as a reliable source expands ever faster. Recent studies found the Web to be the most trusted source of information for making major purchase decisions, second only to spouses for finding referrals.

Chord chart

Chord chart: "
The $5. Chord Chart
that is a music education in a nutshell...

Did you know that I got my start in piano playing from a chord chart I ordered from an ad in Popular Mechanics?
Sounds unlikely, doesn't it?
But it's true.
I took piano lessons as a small child, but never would have really gotten into music if it were not for that $2. chord chart. The chords I learned from that little two-buck chart got me hooked. From then on I couldn't wait to learn the next chord, the next progression, the next riff, the next substitution.
That 2-buck chord chart got me started in a career in music that....well, enough about that.
The point is this:
YOU can learn a TON about music just from this chord chart!
Listen as I explain:
Did you know that it is quite possible to know exactly which chords will occur in any given key?
It's true.
Once you know the principle behind it, it becomes easy to predict which chords you are going to encounter in most any song.
Why is that?
Because in any given key, there are 3 'primary' chords: the chords built on the 1st, 4th, and 5th degrees of the scale. I all these 3 chords 'the fam', because they show up more often than any other chords in that key. Just like at your house you and your family probably show up oftener than, say, Tony Blair, Tiger Woods, or Governor Terminator.
There are also 3 'secondary' chords: the chords built on the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th degrees of the scale. I call these 'the cousins', because while they don't show up as often as 'the fam', they show up much more often than, say, Hillary Clinton, Bill Murray, or Sean Hannity.
Other chords can be used, of course, and sometimes are, but by mastering the 'big 6' you pr"

Piano chords

Piano chords

Piano chords...

I can have you playing "chord" piano in 10 days for as little as 39 bucks.
You won't be great in 10 days, but you'll be on your way.

If you don't learn, you don't pay. It's that simple. But you will learn.

Hi:
I really can teach you to play the piano using piano chords. And it won't cost you an arm and a leg, either. And you risk nothing, since my chording method is 100% guaranteed.

This is not a bogus claim. I've been teaching people to play the piano using chords for 40 years now, and I know what works.

At the end of 10 days you'll know enough about chords and music to play songs on the piano with both hands - without having to read complicated sheet music -- just the tune and the chords, like this:

Piano playing becomes SO much easier when you know what chord to play in the left hand while your right hand plays the melody!

Click to hear Duane explain "Chord Piano"

Here is what you'll learn in the 10 day course:

1. You're going to be able to play all 12 major piano chords easily and quickly. Some of my students can play them in as little as 3 seconds! (Honest!)

2. You're going to be able to pick out a tune with your right hand both "by ear" and by reading notes. (Some people play by ear, and some by sight-reading. You're going to be able to do both -- and knowing piano chords speeds up both.)

3. You will be able to play all minor piano chords, all diminished piano chords, and all augmented piano chords, just by changing each major piano chord slightly. But that's not all: You will also learn how to form and play 6th chords, minor 6th chords, 7th chords, minor 7th chords, maj7th chords (different than "regular" 7th chords), and even 9th chords! You will be able to do this for the rest of your life.

4. You will learn to create a chording rhythm pattern with your left hand, made out of the piano chords you learn, which you can use on a thousand different songs the rest of your life. If you like ragtime, you can use it on The Entertainer, and songs like that. If you like gospel music, you can use it on Amazing Grace, and a thousand other hymns or other Christian music (Actually -- any kind of "popular" piano music). If' you like Country-Western or Contemporary or Pop or whatever, you can apply this "chording bass" pattern to your favorite songs. (The only kind of piano music you shouldn't use it on is classical). You will learn to do this "swing bass" technique in both 3/4 and 4/4 time (and all the other variations). Then you will learn a left-hand technique called "arpeggios" -- where you'll "stretch out" the chord into a beautiful and full orchestral sound -- great for ballads, love songs, certain praise & worship songs, etc.

5. You will learn a wonderful "harmonizing trick" you can do using piano chords. It's very easy to do, but adds a "duet effect' to your right hand melodies. (If you sing, or play another instrument, you can apply this technique to that as well!)

6. You will learn how to "fill up the empty spaces" in a song with echoes, fills, and runs -- all made out of piano chords. This lesson alone is worth ten times the cost of the piano lessons, as only the very top professionals know how to do this. You'll learn rapid-fire runs, straddles, fills, melodic echoes, and cascading waterfall runs!

7. You will learn how to arrange a song -- put an intro at the start of it, and an ending on the caboose. You can then take a piece of sheet music and play it your way, instead of just playing what's written.

8. You will learn how to create a fantastic "orchestral pad" in your left hand part that creates a "river of sound" for ballads, love songs, Christian music, regular sheet music and any kind of song needing a "smooth" feel.

By the way, you will not only learn how to do all these things, but you will also understand what you're doing! In other words, I teach music theory -- why piano chords work the way they do -- along with the specific skills, so you won't be doing anything by rote -- you'll understand exactly what you're doing and why you're doing it!

Whether you take 10 days or ten weeks or ten years is up to you, of course -- but the piano chord course comes in 10 dynamite piano lessons that will take you from where you are to where you want to go. You'll start by learning what music is all about -- the 3 parts of music -- melody, rhythm, and harmony -- and then your learn to read a melody line (if you don't already know how). Then you'll learn how piano chords are formed, and how to get a grasp on all 12 major chords -- and then learn to change them to minor, diminished, and augmented.

Then after you know 48 piano chords (12 major chords, 12 minor chords, 12 diminished chords, and 12 augmented chords), you'll learn to invert them (turn them upside down) so you'll have 144 chords to work with. But then you'll learn to add extensions to the basic chords -- 6ths, 7ths, major 7ths, 9ths -- for those wonderful and exciting sounds that add so much to music. That will give you....oh, about 1000 piano chord possibilities. Piano lessons were never this much fun!

But that's when the fun just starts! Once you know piano chords, then you will learn how to create exciting rhythm patterns using those chords in a variety of ways -- from "swing bass" to "western bass" to "broken chord bass" to..........and each style has many varieties, so there is really no end to the distinctive styles you can come up with to create your own sounds using piano chords!

But in case you are wondering...

"Can I REALLY learn to play "Chord Piano"?
Yes, you really can, and I'll show you why you can right now:

Click here to take a quick quiz!
Qualification #1: Raise your left hand about waist high, and swing it back and forth -- left and right. Can you do that?

Qualification #2: Now look down and see if you have at least 3 fingers on your left hand.Got 'em?

Qualification #3: Now the hard part: Look at your right hand and call your thumb "number one".

If your thumb is #1, what number is your index finger? Your middle finger? Your ring finger? Your little finger?

Were your answers #2, #3, #4, and #5? If so, guess what?

YOU can play "Chord Piano"!

How good you get is up to you -- how much you rehearse, what your motivation is, and what your natural talent is. But EVERYBODY can play "Chord Piano" to some degree -- at least enough to enjoy yourself and perhaps amaze your family and friends. Turn yourself into a chord piano player! (I apologize for being so obvious -- but I just wanted you to see how easy it really is!)

Satellite Radio: the waves of the future?
Satellite Radio Its here! Satellite radio is a new service being offered by two companies, XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. Both companies are offering over 100 channels of streaming music and entertainment. High quality sound is achieved through the use of satellites orbiting high above. Satellite radio is commercial free and free from regulations by federal committees. The impossible, is now possible, hearing the same radio station across North America and from coast to coast. All made possible by XM satellite radio and Sirius satellite radio.
Normal radio has been around for decades and is part of many peoples lifestyle. This is changing. Regular radio is monitored and regulated by the Federal Communications Commission, whom has fined several radio stations and media companies within the last 3-4 years. The FCC has only fined radio stations a maximum of $27,500 per show no matter how man profanities were aired. Recently the FCC has been upping the ante and in conjunction with Congress has decided to raise the fine up to $500,000 per incident per station (Potter). A slap on the wrist has turned into a business-changing event. Sexually explicit comments by Bubba the Love Sponge and Howard Stern could get a station in trouble no doubt about it. Clear Channel Radio dropped both shock jocks this year after being hit with record fines.(Potter) Recently Howard Stern has made a move to Sirius Satellite Radio in an effort to preserve his career and free speech. Consumers are reaching towards satellite radio as a way to hear unregulated news and content. Recently XM Satellite Radio has claimed to have over 3 million subscribers paying $9.99 per month and Sirius "

Chords Galore!
There are thousands and thousands of different chords - everything from basic major chords to minor 7ths to 13ths to suspensions to poly-chords. Someday, you might want to learn all those chords if you don't already know them.

But meanwhile, there are 3 chords -- just 3 -- that you absolutely, positively have to know. If you don't know these three, there's hardly a song in the whole world that you could play. But by knowing just 3 chords, you can play hundreds, if not thousands of songs!

Really?

Really.

In every key there are 3 chords -- just 3 chords -- which are known as "primary chords" -- chords that occur way more than other chords. They are like family members of that particular key. They are groups of notes built on the 1st note of the scale, the 4th note of that scale, and the 5th note of that scale. (Those are 3-note chords called "triads" -- later we will get into 4 and 5 note chords.)

So, in any given key you can play in, there are PRIMARY CHORDS -- chords that occur way more than other chords. They are like family members of that particular key.

At your house, let's say you have 3 people in your family -- your spouse, your child, and you. On the same block, but down the street a few houses, lives your cousin and her family.

At any given moment, who are the most likely people to be in your house?

The Terminator?

Barry Bonds?

Yasser?

No sir.

I don't think so.

It's possible, of course, but not too likely. If I had to guess, I would say it would be either you, your spouse, or your child. It might be your cousin down the street -- there's a much better chance of that than, say, David Letterman or Prince Charles -- but my best odds would be to guess that the family members would be there.

It's the same way with chords. In any given key, there are 3 "family members" that are residents of that key -- the I chord, the IV chord, and the V chord. They are far and away the most likely chords to occur in any given key.

For example, if I am playing in the Key of C, and the first chord is the C chord and I have to guess what the next chord is, I would guess that it would be either the F chord or the G chord. Why? Because those are the other "family members". So we have narrowed the odds a great deal just by knowing who the members of the family are.

Does that mean that there are always just 3 chords in a song? No, but there are literally hundreds of songs that are made of just 3 chords.

The Primary Piano Chords ("the fam") Of All the Major Keys

Here are the primary chords (the family chords) of all the major keys (remember that the primary chords are the I chord, the IV chord, and the V chord based on the scale of that particular key):

Key of C: C, F, G

Key of G: G, C, D

Key of D: D, G, A

Key of A: A, D, E

Key of E: E, A, B

Key of B: B, E, F#

Key of F: F, Bb, C

Key of Bb: Bb, Eb, F

Key of Eb: Eb, Ab, Bb

Key of Ab: Ab, Db, Eb

Key of Db: Db, Gb, Ab

Key of Gb: Gb, Cb, Db

Do you have to know all these chords in all these keys?

No.

You can choose to play in just one key, or just a few keys.

But what you MUST know is the 3 chords in whatever key you want to play in! That means that the stark beginner can learn 3 chords in just a few minutes, and be able to play along with thousands of tunes, because most folk songs, hymns, country songs, and many rock songs just use the 3 basic chords. That's why people who know zilch about piano music can pick up a guitar, learn 3 chords, and strum along while singing everything from "On Top Of Old Smoky" to "Amazing Grace" to "My Country 'Tis Of Thee" to "Auld Lang Syne" to "Silent Night" to..........................well, you get the idea. And not only a guitar, but a piano, keyboard, or whatever. For weekly piano lessons like this go to www.playpiano.com/FreeLessons.htm
